IT Desktop and Server Support Engineer #1471

The Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC), a government agency with the State of Oklahoma, is seeking an IT Desktop & Server Support Engineer to join the Enterprise Support & Services group of the IT Division.

The candidate must be able to successfully use technical expertise to install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade server hardware and software to ensure optimal systems performance. Technical skills should be represented by industry recognized certifications and should include support and management of Windows Server (2003), VMWare, Linux, PC & server hardware/software, and Thin client (Citrix). Must be able to practice and deliver seasoned customer service skills in a demanding service-oriented environment. Candidates must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work within a team environment. Excellent listening and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a focused manner. The ability to train others is a plus.

Salary: $4,800.00 - $5,500.00 monthly ($57,600.00 - $66,000.00 annually)
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Status: Full Time Employee

Examples of Essential Duties:

• Installing and configuring enterprise PCs, Servers and peripheral devices, in support of a 1000+ user environment
• Provide hardware and software support for PCs, Servers and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues through analytical and problem solving skills
• Implement, maintain and support VMWare ESX 3.5 environment
• Implement, maintain and support 2003 Active Directory environment
• Implement, maintain and support Linux servers (RHEL)
• Support, maintain, and manage a clustered Microsoft Exchange 2003 environment
• Support, maintain, and manage a Citrix thin client environment
• Troubleshoot, test, maintain, and support, windows servers, desktop computers, and other peripherals throughout the enterprise
• Coordinate with other IT Division functional areas and business units as necessary to maintain and support the enterprise Desktop and Server environment
• Responsibilities may require on call for after-hours emergencies and support
• Solutions will require applicants to have excellent scripting and automation skills to develop solutions for enterprise-specific solutions
• Strong team skills and a customer-support background handling complex hardware and software systems



Typical Qualifications:

 

• Degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, or related discipline. Other degreed disciplines will be considered if Microsoft Certifications are earned.
• Microsoft Certifications in one or more of the following:
o Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
o Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
o Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
o Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
o Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
• Experience implementing and supporting VMWare ESX 3.5
• Experience implementing and supporting a Windows 2003 Active Directory Network.
• Experience with MS Exchange, IIS, ISA, & SQL Server
• Experience with Linux RHEL
• Experience managing MS Security (Patch Management) and updates
• Knowledge of Citrix environments
• Knowledge of popular MS Windows PC software programs, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet Explorer
• Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, and DHCP.
• Understanding of backup, restore, and disaster recovery methodologies
• Strong, well-respected technical leadership skills and personality, with sense of ownership and personal responsibility
