MV: General Title Information

The State of Oklahoma requires titles to be issued to all over the road motor vehicles, travel trailers, commercial trailers, manufactured homes, boats, outboard motors (in excess of 10 horsepower) and medium-speed electrical vehicles. All terrain and off road motorcycles on which ownership has changed on or after July 1, 2005 are required to be titled and registered, unless owned by the holder of an agricultural exemption permit. Effective July 1, 2008, all ATV's, utility vehicles, and off road motorcycles on which ownership has changed are required to be titled and registered. Existing ATV's, utility vehicles and off road motorcycles (no change of ownership) may be titled and registered, at the owner's option.
Noncommercial trailers including utility trailers, boat trailers and farm trailers, are not required to be titled. However, registration is optional.

• Titles are required to be applied for within thirty (30) days of obtaining ownership.

• Titles may be applied for through the Motor Vehicle Division, or at any of the over three hundred (300) motor license agencies (tag agencies) located throughout the state.

• Once all requirements for title issuance have been met and the transaction entered, title certificates are generated at a central location and mailed out to the record owner (not the lienholder, if any) on the second business day following entry of the transaction.
