It's That Time of Year: 2005 Income Tax Filing Season Has Begun

Gather those W-2s, 1099s and all your receipts, it's tax time! With Oklahoma forms released and electronic filing going live later this week, the 2005 filing period is gearing up.

On December 1st, the Agency released all 2005 income tax forms and packets on the website. In addition to releasing the income tax forms on the site, the Agency has built all the income tax forms for 2005 as "fill-in" forms. This means you can download the form from the site, fill it out on your computer and print it out*.

For those who did not elect to file electronically or through a paid preparer last year, paper forms/packets mailed out the last week of December. With more and more taxpayers filing online/electronically, the need for paper forms has dropped dramatically over the last few years. If you did not receive a paper packet and would like one, please visit our website to download your tax forms or to view other options for obtaining 2005 forms.

Remember E-File! For a faster refund and more efficient filing, electronically file your Federal and Oklahoma tax returns together, beginning January 13, 2006. (Update: The IRS has extended the timeline for releasing the Free File Alliance participant listing to January 18, 2006. As soon as this listing is available, we will post it on our website.)
