Up to the Minute..Press Release Tax Deadline Is Here; Electronic Returns and Payment Have Extra Days The April 15th deadline for individuals to file their personal Oklahoma income tax returns for tax year 2007 is here. Those taxpayers who are filing their Oklahoma state income tax returns electronically have until April 21st this year. For individuals who choose to file their 2007 Oklahoma income tax return (OTC Form 511) on paper, the due date is Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Individuals choosing to file, their 2007 Oklahoma income tax return (OTC Form 511) electronically, have until Monday, April 21, 2008 to transmit their return and it be considered timely filed. If a taxpayer chooses to wait until April 21st to file their tax return electronically, and there is a balance due with the tax return, they must remit this payment electronically to avoid any delinquent penalty or interest. Taxpayers who choose to wait until April 21st to electronically file a return where they owe taxes, and want to pay their taxes with a check or cashier’s check, the payment must be postmarked by April 15th to avoid any delinquent penalty or interest. Most software companies include simple information on how to make electronic payments in their software. For additional information on electronic payment options please log on to the Oklahoma Tax Commission website at www.tax.ok.gov and follow the links for Payment Options. On April 15th agency personnel will be on hand during expanded hours to accept Oklahoma individual income tax returns and assist taxpayers on income taxes. Computer stations will be available for taxpayers to electronically file their returns. State tax forms will also be available at the site.
